DC Men’s Versatile Skate Shoe

DC Men's Versatile Skate Shoe Review

These shoes are comfortable and fairly stylish(depending on color option.) They are holding up fairly well after two months of regular wear. The build of the shoe however makes me question how long they will last. A couple of threads have popped up, and the edges of the 'leather' are starting to wear a bit just from contact with the cuff of my pants. Great for the deal I got, but at the now price of .95, not really worth it. I would step up to the next quality shoe for more, it is made of actual leather.

How to Choose the Best Skateboard Decks and Skateboard Trucks

Unlike many other sports, in skateboarding, you're only as good as your equipment. You could be the best on the board, but if you're board is the wrong size or poor quality, you're not going to get very far and will end up frustrated. If you really want to succeed and get the most of it, you're going to want to get the best, most complete skateboard for you. But there are thousands of companies that sell skateboard decks, skateboard trucks, and other essentials, that make it hard for you to decide which one is right for you and your skill level. Skateboard decks and skateboard trucks, wheels, and the other parts you need to make a complete skateboard, can be a little pricey. So you should do your research before you make the purchase. Here is a little guide to help you choose the right skateboard decks and skateboard trucks for you.

1) The first thing you should do is establish a budget. How much are you willing to spend on your new board? If you want a good board for less money, you should look into complete skateboards. These are pre-assembled and a much cheaper option for someone just starting out who isn't sure if they want to shell out a ton of money for skateboard decks, skateboard trucks, wheels, and the other parts necessary to make your own board. But if you're interested in spending a little more money to have a customizable board that is more your style, with parts that work with your weight, body and skate style, you should opt to build your own board. It's also more of a fun project and it feels like a huge accomplishment when you are holding the board you put together and take it out for its first run.

2) The next step, is to decided what kind of board you want. You can opt for the more cruiser longboard, or a classic street/vert board. Typically, the longboard is more expensive so take that into consideration when making your purchase. Classics and street verts can run any where from $50-$400, so just keep you budget in mind when selecting one of these as well.

3) If you're opting to build your own board, you need to find a good skateboard deck. You want this board to last, so don't buy one from K-Mart, Target, etc. Decide what kind of skating you're going to do. If you're thinking about riding streets you may need a 7.5 or 8.0 deck. If you're planning on riding vert, you should look into skateboard decks that are 8.0 and up.

4) The skateboard trucks are another crucial part of the skateboard. When purchasing skateboard trucks you should look for these characteristics:

- No more than 10 inches in length - A width that fits the deck. So if you're board is 7.5 in width, you will need trucks that are 7.5 - You want it to be lightweight, especially if you're planning on using it for vert - You want it to grind well. There are several truck companies that offer cool designs, but if you're on a tight budget skip the frills and just go for the basics.

Skateboarding Gear – How to Make the Right Choice?

The right skateboarding gear will determine how well you can perform the moves and tricks. Safety is also an issue that is taken into consideration when choosing the equipment.

One of the first things you have to get when you decide that you want to take part in this sport is a board. You have to make sure it is concave to make it easier for you to flip. Flips are also made easier when the board's stiffness is adequate. The stiffer the board is the better. The right board will also prevent any injuries that are related to this sport. If you are a beginner, it is better to go for a board that has a short deck because this makes it easier for you to handle and balance it. Choose the skate board depending on the kind of riding that you are going to be involved in.

If you are involved in aggressive skating, you will need to get some protective skateboard gear. This will protect you from injuries especially when you are performing tricks. A helmet is the most important protective skateboarding gear that you can use. Choose a fitting multi-sport or bicycle helmet and make sure you secure it well when you are skateboarding. A good helmet should have side straps and pads.

Apart from the helmet, you also need pads to protect your knees, wrists and elbows. Get a wrist guard to provide support for your wrist. This will decrease the risk of the bones breaking after a fall. You also require elbow and knee pads that will reduce the risk of getting scarps and cuts.

To keep your feet protected, you need to buy shoes that are closed and slip resistant. To protect your eyes from debris, you also need to get some goggles.

Deciding on the Perfect Skateboarding Shoes

Skateboarding is definitely one of the most popular pastimes in America. Many years have already passed and it would seem this pastime, which was just once a trend, will never lose it's popularity. While skateboarding is without a doubt fun and exciting, its not lacking risks as any pursuit which includes wheels. Special safety measures should be made while riding the skate board and one of the most crucial things you need to do is to wear a good set of skateboarding shoes.

Skateboarding is perceived to be a really uncomplicated pastime mainly because virtually you simply need a skate board along with a flat surface to go about it. For safety, skateboarders are required to use helmets, knee pads, and also elbow pads. Yet that's not really sufficient because you have to protect a very critical part of the body utilised in skate boarding, the feet. That is when skateboarding shoes and boots come into the picture.

Generally, people might believe that just about any sport boots and shoes would probably do for skate boarding. However, this is not true. Although standard shoes may seem to work, they may not have the ability to give the right protection and maneuverability that skateboarding footwear typically offer. And it really is not enough to simply get the next pair of skateboarding boots and shoes you see off the rack. You must be careful about buying new skateboarding footwear.

When buying skate boarding shoes and boots you have to look at four critical items: the capability of the shoes or boots to give protection, the shoe laces, comfort, and grip.

Protection Features: The most essential role of skate boarding footwear is protecting the skateboarder. Being protective, the footwear simply must be durable and flexible enough to stand up to the rigors associated with skate boarding. Good skate boarding footwear ought to have Ollie protection to permit the rider to try and do those back breaking tricks. Moreover a good pair of skate boarding footwear must have good coverage of Ollie protection, preferably a large majority of the toe area, if not the entire area totally and nothing less.

Shoelaces: skate boarding shoes or boots have to have special laces which don't easily fall apart particularly when subjected to stress. Normal shoelaces would quickly rip off after just a couple of hours of skateboarding, in particular for advanced skateboarders. Thus skateboarding footwear need to have laces made of extra sturdy materials compared to other sorts of shoes or boots. Also, it is also better if the skateboarding shoes and boots have laces which can be arranged inside avoiding any accidental tripping as a result of lose laces.

Comfort: much like any kind of footwear, skateboarding boots and shoes need to be comfortable for the wearer, otherwise, it will likely be hard to be wearing them for long stretches. Uncomfortable footwear may well cause blisters or sores when worn during skate boarding for more than 2 hours. Uncomfortable footwear may possibly also make it difficult, if not impossible to accomplish particular tricks during skateboarding.

Grip: finally, skate boarding footwear need to be able to have good grip on the surface of the skate board. Boots and shoes that usually do not possess ample gripping power could trigger the rider to slip from the board inadvertently. The soles should be built of materials with great gripping capability. Experts suggest skateboarding footwear soles are made of gum.

Skate boarding boots and shoes are essential in skate boarding. They present protection, security, comfort and grip throughout the most hard rides. It can be important to pay a great deal of consideration when buying skateboarding boots and shoes to get the proper pair.

All About Skateboarding

Skateboarding is one heck of a fad, most definitely for the younger ones. A recent report determined that over twelve million people all over the globe are involved in skateboarding, and more than 1/3 of all skateboarders are less than 19 years old.

Skateboarding is technically characterized as an activity in which an individual interacts with a skateboard. A skateboard is a platform with wheels that was originally conceptualized during the 1950s where skateboarding evolved into a pastime for surfers when the surf in the sea were too low. In those days, surfers disassembled roller skates and connected the wheels to planks of wood. This idea evolved from the use of what they referred to as the crate scooters, that was in essence a transportation and a pastime piece of equipment that was constructed from a wooden crate that is attached to some kind of handle bars.

During the 1960s, skateboarding started to turn into a phenomenon. Manufacturers sold millions of skateboards which virtually resembled surfboards. They promoted skateboards back then as an alternative to surfing. In the 1970s, skateboarding took a more serious turn as the materials used for the skateboards were upgraded from wood to more hard wearing and flexible materials. Today, the skateboard is significantly better than ever before, as millions of dollars are put into finding the best materials and designs to be used in making them.

Skateboarding can be an exciting and a challenging sport at the same time. Some people utilise skateboards as a means of transport. It's a fairly convenient way of getting about the city because skateboards are so cheap and small as compared to bicycles and scooters. You can get a skateboard at an extremely affordable cost, even a child should be able to buy one from his allowance savings.

Lots of folks see skateboarding as a serious activity which involves lots of skill and expertise. Various international competitive events such as the X Games provide venues wherein the best skateboarders on the planet can easily demonstrate their skills. Skateboarding can be straightforward, although when it comes to performing tricks and stunts, it's a completely different world all together. You require the right instruction and knowledge to have the ability to pull some tricks off.

If we look deeper into the community of skateboarding, it is without doubt, more than just a sport or a pastime, there is a culture that seemingly comes along skateboarding. Back in the old days, skateboarding was typically affiliated with the "rebel" culture. Skateboarders were quite often given the image of being rebels and dregs. Although, as time goes by, skateboarding has been considered as a serious sport and not a manifestation of rebellious angst.

Getting to know the way to skateboard is more often than not done in the streets. Most of the successful skateboarders that we have at present started their careers spending countless hours of practice on the streets. It was sometimes not that they wanted to become skilled at skateboarding, but just that is how they enjoyed spending their time.

If you, or somebody who you know is interested in skateboarding, there's nothing wrong with giving it a try. Having said that, there are some serious precautions that should be taken into account before doing the activity. Wearing the appropriate safety equipment such as helmets, elbow and knee pads are necessary when skateboarding. They might possibly seem to be a little bit bulky, but they will stop one from having serious injuries in skateboarding. The dangers from the activity are real and shouldn't be taken for granted.

Baby Showers in the UK – It’s Official

It may be a surprise to you, but most folks in Britain have never heard of a baby shower. Baby showers are, of course, quintessentially American, with very, very few taking place in the UK... but that may be about to change. Danielle Lloyd, England's most glamorous Footballer's Wife, set a new trend last week when she held her own baby shower at the Courthouse Hotel in Soho, central London, which had the celebrity gossip columns buzzing. Danielle's shower may have had the paparazzi snapping, but, at the end of the day, it was a shower like any other, with friends, family and cute gifts for the mom-to-be, and baby, too.

It's probably a safe bet that where Danielle has led, others will follow, and this year may see the UK adopting baby showers for good. This, of course, is great news: it creates jobs and gets suppliers' tills ringing, which, in today's economic climate, is more than welcome. Britain has never been afraid of embracing great American ideas, such as Rock n Roll, Skateboarding, and Trick or Treat, so now may well be the time for a new tradition. If past trends are anything to judge by, then the UK may be on the brink of something big!

Not surprisingly, there are precious few organizers in the UK, so if you are in the UK and might be considering getting into organizing baby showers, then now may well be the time to take the plunge and go for it. Start out by doing a couple of freebies for family or friends - that gives you a Get Out of Jail card if you foul-up - and make sure to ask the mom-to-be and the guests to recommend you to others, if you did a good job of things. Word of mouth will take you further than any other form of advertising. Stay organized and be meticulous. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that it's an easy job, with no effort required. It's demanding work, and you must stay alert and be vigilant at all times. Nobody wants to hire a poor organizer.

Now that the UK has been bitten by the baby shower bug, the British can expect more fun and more celebrating of moms-to-be. And I say it's about time, too!
